Talking frequently to the Bloggers that are leveraging our platform, I thought it would be nice to recap on what, in their eyes, makes a Blog both interesting and helpful.
So I think it’s pretty obvious what the overarching motto of this article will be. Yes you guessed right. Write about something that you L O V E and share your passion with your readers. But like in real life, love is often not enough.
Have a look at our 5 steps below which should guide you to content which gets for one read but also shared, meaning your audience will grow and bring you more motivation to keep on writing!
Write about something you KNOW WELL
Like we all remember from school, writing about something you are not really interested by can easily become tedious and take a long time. Don’t torture yourself and choose a topic which isintegrated into your everyday life and you are also happy to do the necessary research for.
Writing is not the easiest thing and requires effort and patience. Try (but not force yourself) to sit down every day and write an article between 250-500 words. It’s the length which keeps readers engaged and shouldn’t take up a copious amount of time.
Write about something and CUSTOMISE it
The web is full of sites, which repeat the same thing over and over again. Have a think and create content which includes your point of view, a new way to do something or even just a picture you took. This will be helpful and more interesting to others than just another classic Lasagne recipe.
Make it GOOD LOOKING
Comic Sans, flashy gifs, overbearing ads – please no. If a reader lands on your page and is put off by your design, they won’t even start to read, which means your Page Views will remain small and your Unique Users will shrink. Leverage your website providers’ beautiful templates, use a classic font, insert beautiful images and keep widgets or ads classy and non-intrusive.
Write for yourself and your AUDIENCE
Understanding your audience better means you’ll have a better idea of what blog content will resonate with them, which is a good start when you get to writing blog posts. A great technique for doing this is to simply ask your readers first on Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn with an engaging quote. If people respond well to it, then this is probably a great topic to write about.
So if you are not already doing this, have a think and maybe restructure your way of blogging! Everybody can be a writer, it just takes, like everything good, a little time and effort 🙂
